Who We Are

PrivacyPick.com is run by a small team focused on VPN and privacy-tool testing. Reviews and byline are led by Juan Martinez. We have no ownership interest in any provider we review. Our income comes entirely from affiliate commissions — which we disclose on every page where a provider link appears.

How We Rate VPNs

Each VPN receives a score out of 10, built from weighted categories covering what we think matters most for a trustworthy, no-logs VPN — not a neutral average of every spec sheet:

  No-Logs Audit & Trust — 30% — Whether a no-logs claim is backed by an independent audit or court case, jurisdiction, and history of leaks or data requests.

  Security Features — 20% — Protocols offered, kill switch, split tunneling, and other features that affect real-world protection.
• ✓
  Speed & Reliability — 20% — Real-world throughput and connection stability, cited from our own tests where available and from third-party tests otherwise (clearly marked).
• ✓
  Price & Value — 15% — Cost across plan lengths relative to what you actually get — not just the flashiest headline discount.
• ✓
  Support & Usability — 15% — App quality, platform coverage, and how responsive support actually is when something breaks.

How We Rate Browsers

Private browsers use a separate rubric, since the questions are different — what a browser tells every site, not what a network operator can see. Each gets a score out of 10 from these weighted categories:

  Privacy Defaults — 30% — What is protected out of the box with no configuration: trackers, third-party cookies, referrer, default search, telemetry.
• ✓
  Anti-Fingerprinting — 25% — Real-world resistance to canvas, WebGL, font, and screen fingerprinting, judged against independent tests rather than vendor claims. A separate axis from tracker blocking.
• ✓
  Transparency — 20% — Open-source status, independent audits and how fresh they are, past privacy incidents and how the vendor handled them, and who funds the project.
• ✓
  Usability & Compatibility — 15% — Whether real sites break, whether DRM video works, and the learning curve for someone who is not technical.
• ✓
  Cross-Platform & Sync — 10% — Platform coverage and whether sync exists and is end-to-end encrypted.

Rubric added: August 30, 2026. A browser without an independent audit is not marked down for that alone — Transparency reflects the whole picture, not one missing item.

Our Testing Process

Before publishing a review, we verify no-logs audit claims against the actual audit report or court record — not the provider's marketing page — and document protocols, security features, and pricing directly from the provider's current terms.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you sign up for a VPN through our link, we may receive a commission. This commission never influences our ratings or recommendations — providers are scored on merit alone. If a provider pays us a higher commission but has worse terms for users, it gets a lower rating.
